MCP server for AI assistants

Ask your AI assistant who read your documents

HelpRange speaks MCP – the open standard AI assistants use to work with your tools. Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client, sign in with your HelpRange account, and ask about your documents, views and data rooms in plain language.

Plain-language questions

“Who opened the investor deck this week and which pages did they spend most time on?”

Your real analytics

Views, time per page, downloads and visitors – the same numbers as in your HelpRange panel.

Data rooms

“Which guests of the Project Alpha room have not opened anything yet?”

Ask about any file’s content

“What is the payment term in the Acme contract?” – the assistant reads the document in HelpRange and answers.

OAuth sign-in, safe by design

You log in and approve the app; no API keys. It can upload files and create links, but never delete or change anything.

Disconnect any time

See connected apps in Integrations and revoke access with one click.

Connect

Add HelpRange to your AI assistant

MCP server URL
https://www.helprange.com/mcp

Sign-in is OAuth: your assistant opens HelpRange, you log in (with 2FA if it is on) and click “Allow access”. No API keys to copy.

Claude (claude.ai, Desktop)

Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector → paste the URL → Connect, then log in to HelpRange and click “Allow access”.

ChatGPT

Settings → Connectors (developer mode) → Create → paste the URL, authentication OAuth → log in to HelpRange and allow.

Cursor, VS Code & others

Add a remote (Streamable HTTP) MCP server with the URL. The client discovers OAuth by itself and opens the HelpRange sign-in page.

Tools your assistant gets

list_folders – your folders with the number of documents

list_documents – documents with type, pages, views and downloads – filter by folder or name

get_document_stats – views, downloads, average seconds per page and the latest viewers of a document

list_recent_views – who opened which document recently, across all folders

get_document_text – the content of a PDF, Word, Excel or PowerPoint file page by page – ask the assistant anything about it

search / fetch – find a document by name and read its full content (the tools ChatGPT uses for connectors and deep research)

list_data_rooms / get_data_room – data rooms with their guests, visits and documents (administrators)

upload_file – upload a file (or a public link to one) into a folder

create_link / list_links – create a tracked share link with passcode, expiry, views limit, watermark, e-mail gate or download on/off

FAQ

MCP server for AI assistants – questions

What is MCP?

The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets AI assistants call tools of other services. HelpRange runs an MCP server at https://www.helprange.com/mcp (Streamable HTTP).

How does authentication work?

OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and dynamic client registration: the assistant opens HelpRange, you log in and approve. Access tokens last 1 hour and are refreshed automatically; you can revoke the connection in Integrations.

What can the assistant see and do?

Exactly what you can see in HelpRange: your folders and documents, their view statistics, and – for team administrators – data rooms. It can upload new files and create share links (“upload this contract and give me a link for ACME that expires Friday”), but cannot delete or change existing files, links or people.

Does HelpRange use my documents to train AI?

No. Document text is sent only to the assistant you connect, when it asks for it, to answer your question.
